the green green grass series 2

Only Fools and Horses favourites Boycie and Marlene have upped sticks and moved to Shropshire to mingle with the country set and run a farm.

All is going well; Boycie is a dedicated reader of Farmers’ Weekly magazine, Marlene is happily ensconced in baking and the infamous villains – the Driscoll brothers – couldn’t be further from their minds.

The sun shines down on the happy couple as they gaze over their land with Jed and Bryan out on the tractor, Elgin snoozing in front of his office, Tyler courting his new girlfriend and Mrs Cakeworthy...eating biscuits.

Then Boycie learns that artificial fertiliser could be the key to doubling his crop yield and his profit, so naturally he jumps at the chance to invest in several bumper sacks... despite supposedly running an organic farm. And who should catch him in the act? His dastardly neighbour Llewellyn. It’s not long before Boycie and Marlene are being investigated by the Agricultural Office for ethical improprieties. But quick-thinking as ever, Marlene has a solution; surely Boycie can bribe someone?

Soon after, Boycie – still yearning for the high life of the landed gentry, decides to stand for Mayor. Unfortunately this yet again, puts him on yet another direct collision course with his patriotic Welsh neighbour, Llewellyn.

Elsewhere, Marlene decides to experiment with vegetarianism and attracts the lascivious attention of Tyler’s fellow pupils. And Tyler is determined to sow his own oats by tempting new girlfriend Beth for a roll in the hay. Elgin, Bryan, Jed and Mrs Cakeworthy remain loyal, if eccentric, protecting their new and somewhat naive employers from uncertain country ways. They’re all doing fine, until Marlene’s sister arrives with an unexpected present...
