The average viewer does not complain. They throw th off switch. But BBCE means so much to so many of us that we have to make a stance when programmes have reached a truly bad low. We would love to see the channel go slightly more interesting. Now is just powderpuff rubbish. We LOVE: Beautiful People, Dalziel & Pascoe, Hitler on Trial, Ideal, Palin, Dickens, Sherlock Holmes, Silent Witness, Upstairs Downstairs, Casualty. GIVE us what the UK is famous for. The 11nd World War, British History (power of the monarchs), more crime programmes that are nor suger coated. You have become the suger plum fairy of TV. We need something too really grip us. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE OF US & DO SOMETHING instead of replies full of platitudes. We known you can do it.

BBC

Dear Gary,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We are sorry to hear that you remain unhappy with the channel, but we appreciate your continued support and interest in BBC Entertainment. We are always pleased to hear programme suggestions, and we're grateful to you for telling us which of our shows you have enjoyed. We have a new series of Silent Witness coming up in July, and later in the year we will be premiering new episodes of The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Waking The Dead, which might interest you. We also have some great new factual content joining the channel in the coming months, including Alone In The Wild, King George & Queen Mary - The Royals Who Rescued The Monarchy, and Jack The Ripper: Prime Suspect.

Best wishes,

BBC Entertainment

I live in Portugal. What has happened to Eastenders. The programmes are not running at the correct times here. I have taped all the ones saying Eastenders but end up with different shows. Any idea what is happening?

BBC

Dear Carol,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We are sorry that you are experiencing problems with our schedules. We can assure you that EastEnders is transmitting at the usual times, but unfortunately we are experiencing some problems with our online schedules, which we are currently working to fix. We are also contacting operators in your region to ensure that they are displaying correct information on their EPG. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Best wishes,

BBC Entertainment seems to repeat lots of very old series. Do you have any plans to update the offerings with good BBC programmes currently available on all 4 domestic BBC channels, and reduce the number of times individual episodes are repeated? BBC4 has some really great programmes and it would be wonderful to see them on BBC Entertainment. BBC Entertainment has the potential to be a great channel, but for some reason the BBC seem to be dead set against that. And remember, it is a subscription channel available through paid subscriptions, not a free channel.

BBC

Dear David,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our current programming, and the way that we repeat programmes. We constantly invest in new content for the channel, and regularly introduce brand new titles and new series of popular shows to the BBC Entertainment schedules. Repeats form an important part of our schedules, so that our viewers, who may have missed complete series the first time around, can see our wealth of programming at a time which suits them, but we appreciate your comments about this.

As BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, we are a separate entity and we don’t automatically gain the rights to programmes produced for the public service channels in the UK. We have to bid for these, along with other broadcasters. In turn, however, we can also bid for other programmes originally produced for other UK channels, such as Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Whitechapel, and our current premiere Love Life, which we broadcast on BBC Entertainment in many regions across Europe.

Due to rights and availability issues, there will always be a delay between UK transmission and when we can bring programmes to our international channels, but we try to minimise this wherever possible. Indeed, viewers of EastEnders on BBC Entertainment are now just three weeks behind UK transmission, and for Casualty this is currently even less. In addition, we show Alan Carr: Chatty Man less than two weeks after it’s originally shown in the UK. We also like to hear programme requests from our viewers, and we pass these on the team who plan the content for our channels.

In the coming months, you can see lots of great new shows on the channel, including A Farmer’s Life For Me, The Real Anne Lister, comedies Saxondale and The Café, plus new series of Hustle and Silent Witness, which we hope that you might enjoy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.

Hi.

I'm an italian girl loving BBC series - Sherlock is the best ever, I think, but now I'm writing to ask you about an old BBC serie. When I was a child, in Italy they broadcast a serie called "Valle di luna": I loved it, and I was so sad 'cause I couldn't see the last episode. Some years ago, I discovered that it was a BBC serie, based on the children's book "The Little White Horse" by Elizabeth Goudge. Searching on the net, I have seen it was broadcast by you on 1994, but it's impossibile to buy or to see the episodes online. I know, maybe it's difficult, but is it possibile to find "Moonacre" anywhere - like buying a dvd, or maybe is it possibile to see another time in tv? (In that case, is it possibile to see your channel online? I'm living in Italy and for me it's the only way to see BBC, I think)

Thank you for the attention, regards from Florence, Italy

Salomè

BBC

Dear Salomè,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We are pleased to hear of your enthusiasm for Sherlock, which will be returning for a new series next year. Unfortunately we don't have any plans to show the series that you mention on BBC Entertainment, but for information about purchasing BBC DVDs, you might like to take a look at our FAQs.

Can you tell me when Part 2 of Case Sensitive will be shown? So far, I've only seen Part 1 in the schedule.

BBC

Dear Connie,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

Case Sensitive was a one-part drama, originally shown on Monday 27th May. We are sorry if you weren't aware that it was not a continuing programme. In its place on Monday evenings, you can see a new series of Spooks, which we hope that you might enjoy.

Best wishes,

BBC Entertainment

Imre

Why is it that so many of your programs eg Lark Rise..Spooks when originally screen were one hour but when they are transmitted on BBC E they are just 50mins?...tonight is a prime example with Spooks.

BBC

Dear Imre,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We receive pre-cut versions of many of our programmes, such as Lark Rise To Candleford and Spooks, so that they are suitable for broadcast on commercial channels. Occasionally, we may need to make further small edits to programmes before they can be shown on BBC Entertainment, but a specialist compliance team carries this out in a way that ensures viewers’ enjoyment is not affected.

Best wishes,

"My family" is so totally stupid I turn over when you show the trailers to this dreadful show. How much longer are we going to have suffer repeats of this awful program at peak viewing time. How much longer of this rubbish are you going to show!

Philip

Advert being shown recently regarding the anniversary of the coronation, the Union flags were all upside down! Isn't this a sign of distress?

BBC

Dear Philip,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We very much appreciate feedback from our viewers and we would like to thank you for taking the trouble to contact us. As you have correctly noted, unfortunately the union flag depicted in the promo for the “By Royal Appointment” season of programmes includes images of the union flag shown upside down. We sincerely apologise for this error and we can confirm that this promo is currently being corrected and a new version, with the union flag shown in the correct position, is planned to go to air on 14 June.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Sheila

Please could you explain why, since our last visit at Easter, BBC entertainment has disappeared from our TV channels in our flat in Switzerland?

BBC

Dear Sheila,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment Europe.

We are sorry to hear that you are no longer able to receive BBC Entertainment in Switzerland. The channel is still available in the region, so we would recommend that you contact your operator in the first instance, or check our Get The Channel page for advice about technical issues if you are a DTH viewer.

Best wishes,
